THE RUNDOWN

Hi there! I’m Sumner Bradley, a storyteller, journalist, and behind-the-scenes production powerhouse from Potomac, Maryland. Growing up in the D.C. metropolitan area, I was surrounded by the pulse of news and culture, which fueled my passion for journalism from an early age.

My journey into journalism and production began at Louisiana State University, where I honed my craft as a Digital Director, reporter, and anchor for Tiger TV. I loved my time at LSU (Geaux Tigers!) and was even on the President’s List three times. But when a graduation scheduling conflict forced me to re-evaluate, I made the leap to the University of Miami, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. At Miami, I continued developing my skills both in front of and behind the camera as an anchor and reporter for UMTV NewsBreak, associate producer for The Culture, and assistant director for Pulse.

My experience has also taken me beyond the college newsroom. At NBC4 Washington, I wrote articles, clipped video, produced push notifications, and adapted broadcast stories for digital and social audiences. I later joined MSNBC’s Digital and Social Video team in New York City, where I produced and edited social-first news content, strengthening my understanding of how journalism can reach audiences in creative and engaging ways across platforms.

Now, I’m taking my love for storytelling in a new direction at New York University, where I’m pursuing my master’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communication. Journalism taught me how to find a story, ask the right questions, and understand an audience. I chose to pursue PR because I want to take those skills even further by learning how organizations shape their stories, build relationships, and communicate with purpose. For me, it isn’t about leaving journalism behind. It’s about expanding the ways I can use storytelling to inform, connect, and make an impact.

Beyond the newsroom, I have an all-star side to me, literally. I spent 12 years as an Allstar cheerleader, competing at the sport’s highest levels. I attended eight World Championships and even earned a silver medal (think of it as the Olympics of cheerleading). That experience taught me teamwork, grit, and how to perform under pressure, skills I now bring to every story, project, and production I take on.

When I’m not editing, writing, or figuring out what story I want to tell next, you can probably find me exploring New York City, keeping up with pop culture, or reading articles on my phone.

Whether I’m producing a video, developing a communications strategy, interviewing someone, or perfecting an edit in Adobe Premiere Pro, I bring energy, curiosity, and creativity to everything I do. I’m passionate about creating impactful content, amplifying diverse voices, and finding new ways to connect with audiences across platforms.
